This weekend I enjoyed a 'Cook off' for 20 people,
trying to out-cook my other Chef contender in my favorite pub.
Cookin' 4 Lucy is one thing ...
20 persons (humanoids, carbon based etc. ...) is something completely different.
Here's a look behind these scenes :
" Approx. 8 or 9 Liters of meatball veggie-soup.
My hand is there for sizing purposes !
It's really huge (and quite some work). " - Mathijs
" It's really stuffed with veggies and meatballs,
proof is the spoon standing upright on itself. " - Mathijs
" I can almost smell it from this photograph ! " - Mathijs
That's for Starters, here's the build of the Main Course:
" An ovendish I named: Dutch Lasagne:
Many layers of meat, cheese, potato-slices etc.
Here I am trying to distribute backed bacon (instead of using salt) evenly. " - Mathijs
" Layer of Paprika, Italian Style ( a la Mathijs )
topped with another layer of (cooked) potato slices.
Here in progress ... " - Mathijs
" Another minced meat layer together with plenty of grated Gouda cheese ! " - Mathijs
The next day, Sunday: Servin' time:
It was a lot of work getting to where I got with my preps.
So when I successfully got the dish out of the refrigerator,
on to a temporary shelf,
just before I was about to put it in the oven.
I just had to do a photoshoot, looking dorky (and fatigued) with a knife:
" I did wear my lucky shirt ! " - Mathijs
I've got quite some compliments on my veggie-soup !!!
Unfortunately, my ovendish I didn't serve it at the right temperature ( way too cold ).
This (big) error made me loose this cookoff.
This means that I don't have to do it again in two weeks (I am out of the race, for now).
It was a lot of work, but :
It is fun, to watch 20 people enjoy YOUR home-made dish!
" As a 'Chef', I did go by the petstore last saturday.
Also getting some treats for Lucy.
Treating Lucy is easier... (hardly any work involved this way :-) " - Mathijs
HamsterTracker™-Shouts to all Chefs around the world
I have gained DEEP respect for your (daily) work !
