Wednesday afternoon project
While having beautifull sunshine here today,
I was fortunate enough to have the afternoon off.


This inspired me in doin' some tidy up:


The new picture frame above my hamster Lucy's cage.
(Remember the: before picture?.)

I got three of these (very nice) frames so now was the time to do something with it.

This little project involved:
  • Removing (Duc-taped) photo's from wall
  • Cleaning glass of frame
  • Cutting finger while cleaning the glass...
  • Measuring
  • Drilling, while holding the nozzle of vacuum-cleaner near drill-bit
  • Remeasuring
  • Hanging the frame
  • Observing, "Job well done!"
  • Thinking of a better compilation of pictures...



Right now I'm also thinking about my next little project:


The wires of the HamsterTracker(tm) system a bit in a mess.
Thinking ... Thinking ... Really! ... (only) Thinking ...

Lucy's sleepin' quarters
Last sunday I noticed that Lucy's bedroom was looking a bit moist,
(the top was a bit condensated),


So I cleaned her (second bedroom) the way I usually do, and waited for Lucy to have her drink/bathroom break.
(She has those kinds of breaks quite regularly during the day!).
When she did, I did a 12.38 seconds swap of her sleeping quarters.


After Lucy returned from her 'sleeping-break', she started organizing it all:

When Lucy wakes up during the day,
she gets up to use the bathroom and to have a drink of water.
Sometimes when I catch her doing this, I give her a treat.

My Mistake...
This last week my perception of smell was zero due to a cold.

I took special care with washing hands before handeling Lucy.
Hamsters can catch a cold or flu, so you never can be too carefull.


Lucy made it clear (for the second time) that her bathroom needs cleaning.
(I missed that, because lack of smell)...

So I immediately cleaned it:

Lucy's-Treadmill-Sensor Troubles are resolved!
This weekend, when looking at Lucy's treadmill data,
I was a bit worried (see also the graphs below).

So I set out to check the treadmill sensor:


Extreme closeup of the dust collected on the treadmill sensor.
After moving the sensor a bit it became obvious,
there is quite some dust blocking accurate treadmill registration(s).


Left arrow, points to the dust on the outside of Lucy's cage,
while the right arrow points to the dust on the Treadmill-Sensor-IR-LED.


I cleaned it and these last couple of days it all seems to do it's job again!

Then I had to tell Lucy...
