Cookin' up some Simple Pasta for Lucy

Today I made some wonderfull pasta for myself,
I was enjoying it soo much, I had to come up with a Hamster version:

Cookin' some Simple Pasta for my hamster Lucy.
" Ingredients:
Cooked & cooled Pasta,
Cheese,
Parsley,
'Red Sweet Pepper' ( = PAPRIKA in Dutch).

Put the pasta in a circle like shape,
thereby making a 'bowl' of pasta.
" - Mathijs

Warning:

I checked, checked and re-checked on the internet,
to see if hamsters can have 'Red Sweet Pepper';
as it seems a lot of (Dutch) hamsters do.

I am not sure if I've got the translation of 'Red Sweet Peppers' right,
so check with your local petshop or hamster-expert, to see if your choice of veggie is the right one.

Please remember, your hamster will eat ANYTHING you'll feed it,
it's your responsibility to make it hamster-safe !

Cookin' 4 Lucy: micro Veggie Pizza

Today it's

World Animal Day

at least here in the Netherlands it is.

A good day to do some Cookin' 4 Lucy style activity to pamper Lucy.
Here's what you'll need:

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Tools:      Food:
Knife      Flour Tortillas
Whiskey glass      Carot
Other glass      Apple
Scissors      Cucumber
Corer      Pine- and Melon-seeds (3 of each)
Workspace      Grated Gouda Cheese
       Fresh Parsley

Make sure all tools and veggies are washed really well before you begin.
And don't forget to wash your hands!

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Open the Flour Tortillas with scissors.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Use the smallest Diameter glass as a cut-around-guide.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Remove the cut out Flour Tortilla,
This will be our Veggie Pizza's Bottom.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Use Corer to get a perfectly cylindrical shape.
This is the Veggie Pepperoni Sausage.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Cut a few thin slices from the just made Pepperoni Sausage.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Cut a V-shaped wedge from the reddest part of an apple. This will be the paprika substitute.

Because I was not 1000% sure if hamsters are allowed to have paprika,
I took the safe route and substituted this with Apple.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Remove some of the apple, too much is too much.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Cut into paprica like blocks, and carefully place (red side up) on top of pizza.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Thinly slice some cucumber (leavin' the green stuff on)

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Add some fresh parsley.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Add some cheese.

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Add three Melon-Seeds. (They're there for imitating olives),
and some Pine-Seeds, imitating Pine-Seeds..

Then I used an upside down Whiskey glass as a servin' table.
These glasses have generally a larger diameter,
as well as weight. I wouldn't want Lucy to knock the thing over.

The final result:

Cookin' micro Veggie Pizza.
Makes you kind'a hungry doesn't it?

Then I served it to Lucy:

My hamster Lucy about to try her Veggie Pizza.

Cooking 'r-Ice-Tea' for your hamster

In the series Cookin' 4 Lucy,
I cooked up this r-Ice-Tea recipe after my vet mentioned it is good stuff for hamsters.

You'll need:
  • Small pan
  • Cup (for measurements)
  • Some kind of timer
  • Stove
  • Plain rice (not the fast cookin' kind)
  • Water
Here are the steps involved:

I cooked this on day 680, the day that Lucy passed away.

I am looking forward to cook this up once again, but then, for Lucy 3.0

Where's the mustard?

(Please don't feed your hamster real Mustard!
Your hamster will die from it!)

A hamster will eat anything you give it,
(Please) Be responsible (!), only feed your hamster hamster safe food!

When in doubt (if it's hamster safe), then don't feed it !

Ofcourse I wouldn't feed a hamster real mustard, therefore this replacement:

Cookin' Veggie Hotdogs for my hamster Lucy.
Cut a 'wavy' shape out of a slice of cheese.

Be carefull with this step!!!

Ask parental guidence if you're younger than 39!

Don't handle a knife like in the picture!!!

HOWTO: Make Micro-Burgers for your hamster

I've been thinking about this for quite some time now. And I finally decided to give it a go.

Today I bought an apple corer (€ 1.59). That makes the following recipe easier to create:

Ingredients; (fresh-) Bread, (cooked-) Ham, (Gouda-) Cheese and a small bit of fresh parsley.

Micro Hamburger for your hamster.

Use Apple Corer to cut out two round pieces of bread:

Micro Hamburger for your hamster. Micro Hamburger for your hamster.

Do the same with a single (thinly) slice(d) piece of ham:

Micro Hamburger for your hamster.

Use a bit of parsley (for the green stuff) and stack it all carefully:

Micro Hamburger for your hamster.

Optionally you can add some cheese (If you desire Micro-Cheeseburgers):

Micro Cheeseburger for your hamster.

Stack it carefully:

Micro Cheeseburger for your hamster.

Ready for serving!

Micro-Hamburger for your hamster. Micro-Cheeseburger for your hamster.

I hope that my littl' Lucy likes it, right now she's still sleeping...

Costs if you don't like ham & cheese sandwiches, and if you make only one Micro-burger:
  • Apple corer: € 1.59
  • Half a loaf of Bread: : € 0,63
  • Gouda cheese: € 1.70
  • Cooked Ham: € 2.12
Total: € 6.04 or € 4.45 if you already have an apple corer.

I've decided not to include this on Lucy's Expenses, simply because I don't mind a ham & cheese sandwich with a few holes!

'Cooking' up flowers for Lucy

Because you have to surprise your loved one, once in a while, I decided to do some culunairy cookin' Ahummm

A plant for Lucy's cage

Close up what I 'cooked' up with some apple and parsley for my hamster Lucy.

The recipe is simple:
  • Wash apple and some fresh parsley
  • Cut out a piece of apple, preferably dice shaped. And don't use a large knife! like I did. Ask help if you're under 40!
  • Use a toothpick to punch a small hole in the apple
  • Place parsley in the just made hole
  • Serve immediately! (So the apple is still fresh)

  • Close up of my hamster Lucy: 'What's up, is this for me?' Close up of my hamster Lucy: 'It smells kind o' nice!'
Close up of my hamster Lucy: 'Yo! Apple, I like this!' Close up of my hamster Lucy: 'Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!'
Lucy loved it, as you can see!
