Today exactly one year ago I shot this following photograph,
taken from the HamsterTracker™-Unpublished Photo Archives:

FACT:
Lucy 2.0 drank a total of 2003 ml. of water on day 365,
Lucy 3.0 drank a total of 2029 ml. of water on day 365 !
That's data compares pretty close doesn't it ?
A year ago...
It seems like only a month ago that I first met Lucy,
what a year it has been:

After a merry night of sleep for me,
Lucy has been keeping busy:

After restoration, we assessed the damage:

in a way much better than my electronic-PDA does:

Just yesterday, I noticed that Lucy has done some redecoration:
" Not the most comfortable way to have a drink ! " - HamsterTracker™-Observation Dept.
So I moved the Herb 'n' Hide tube away,
and I put in a cardboard box of one of Lucy's favorite treats.
Because Lucy is chewing up the Toilet Rolls
much faster, than I can 'produce', I do use Hamster Food boxes as a replacement.
(Before I give it to Lucy, I make sure that no (plastic-) stickers,
pricetags etc, are removed from these cardboard containers.)
So here's Lucy today:
" Lucy modified the box to her needs ... " - HamsterTracker™-Observation Dept.
" A bit more in close-up ! " - HamsterTracker™-Close-Up dept.
" Dude, that was a lot of work to get ready,
it took all evening to make a comfortable drinkin'-seat !

I tried to calm Lucy down a bit,
taking a seat in front of her cage,
opening up a listening eye,
as well as her cage, so Lucy could give the full report:
" I am missing a lot of stuff,
ONE: my Walnut,
TWO: my Hazelnuts,
THREE: a lot o' Pine Seeds,
FOUR: my Hamster Teddy-treat !!!
I am sure I could think of something else if I had FIVE fingers! " - Lucy
I tried to explain:
" It's because the HamsterTracker™-Sanitation Dept. cleaned your bedroom ! "
" OH REALLY ??? ... " - Lucy
" In that case:

Last week the FT100 - Point of Sale Display started to goof up seriously.
Between displaying Lucy's and HamsterTracker™-Website statistics,
it was displaying a a whole lot of nonsense, hundreds of characters at one go.
After checking the HamsterTracker™-Software that is controlling it,
it took a little while to deduce that the power supply was causing this.
This 220 Volt AC to 5 Volt regulated powersupply,
was outputting a solid 1.15 Volts when I measured it (with my new Volt-meter).
So it was time to open it up, (assembled when I was 14 years of age, opening it approx. 27 years later):
" This old beauty has powered a lot of projects ... " - Mathijs
" Opening it ... " - HamsterTracker™-Geek-&-Fix Dept.
" Getting all the stuff ready; Multi-Meter, Solder Iron, Solder & Screwdrivers ...
Together with some obligatory pliers ... " - HamsterTracker™-Geek-&-Fix Dept.
" After opening:
the powersupply cable connection broke (1)
as well as the problem area became apparent (2) " - HamsterTracker™-Geek-&-Fix Dept.
The heating and cooling off,
has (over the years) worn down the (2) connection,
thereby outputting only a slight part of the total power.
" Here it is all (re-)soldered again. " - HamsterTracker™-Geek-&-Fix Dept.
" Re-Assemblin' ... " - HamsterTracker™-Geek-&-Fix Dept.
" It has been running since this fix ... " - HamsterTracker™-Geek-&-Fix Dept.
Then Lucy asked:
" Tell me it DOESN'T show Pine-Seed consumption, Dude ! " - Lucy

I've experienced this sequence countless of times,
but I don't think I've ever documented it:
After Lucy's Explorer Ball time,
I take the ball (with Lucy inside),
on my lap to open, so Lucy can get out:

with Lucy enjoying her parsley...

Lucy and I are having our (lately almost daily) fun on the couch.
Besides exploring, Lucy tries to score a Lucy Touchdown;
that's when she climbs up on the back to the table right behind the couch.
Whenever she makes it, without me catching her first,
Lucy scores a Lucy-Touch Down,
thereby winning a Pine-Seed.
But not all touchdowns are allowed,
there are the ones that are simply Off-Side:
" TOUCH DOWN DUDE !!!
Jipppy, Aaai, Aaaye ! " - Lucy
I then had to be stern
but fair ...
Sorry Lucy this is Off-Side ...
" I am just lookin' at the HamsterTracker™-Equipment, Dude ! " - Lucy
Lucy started to 'dig' my hand; trying to find a way through.
She first tried to push her nose through my fingers, which didn't give in (much).
Then, to my amazement, Lucy tried to dig into my fingers like she would dig into sand !
That was an AMAZING sensation,
although I must admit I was a bit scared of Lucy getting over excited,
and bite her way through...
Fortunately Lucy IS a LADY and she didn't use force...
" I give up Dude... Let's grab a Pine-Seed ! " - Lucy
Lucy got her Pine-Seed;
I've got to be a gentleman ...

Lucy always makes my day,
From Lucy sleeping in an extreme cute way,
to having quality time on the couch with her.
So whenever Lucy's acting shy,
I just know, she's up to something:
" Dude, would you like a game of 'Hide & Seek' ? " - Lucy
( This means, that Lucy will hide,
and I have to go seek )
I started counting : 1 ... 2 ... 3 ...
etc...
Then I couldn't stop giggle-ing;
" He will NEVER find me here ! " - Lucy

After two minutes:
" Let's play again, Dude ! " - Lucy

It's been quite a while,
so here are Lucy's latest:

day 121 & 239 where forced reboots by Windows XP during night time, after auto update. ]

Today I made some wonderfull pasta for myself,
I was enjoying it soo much, I had to come up with a Hamster version:
" Ingredients:
Cooked & cooled Pasta,
Cheese,
Parsley,
'Red Sweet Pepper' ( = PAPRIKA in Dutch).
Put the pasta in a circle like shape,
thereby making a 'bowl' of pasta.
" - Mathijs
Warning:
I checked, checked and re-checked on the internet,
to see if hamsters can have 'Red Sweet Pepper';
as it seems a lot of (Dutch) hamsters do.
I am not sure if I've got the translation of 'Red Sweet Peppers' right,
so check with your local petshop or hamster-expert, to see if your choice of veggie is the right one.
Please remember, your hamster will eat ANYTHING you'll feed it,
it's your responsibility to make it hamster-safe !
" Slice & dice some of your hamsters favorite veggies... " - Mathijs
" Then add some parsley, in a real 'Chefs'-Way ... " - Mathijs
" Don't forget some grated cheese, to top it off ! " - Mathijs
